Tony & Ruby Schmaltz Park Dedication
June 14 at 1:00 p.m.
Tony & Ruby Schmaltz Park at 6704 Bow Crescent
We hope to have civic officials on hand for this very special couple’s recognition. The park will honour the memory of Tony Schmaltz who was a leading citizen, town councillor, businessman and the first postmaster of Bowness from the 1930s to 1960s. Tony owned and operated the Midway Store on Main Street and the Parkway Store located near Bowness Park, and ran the Mutual Telephone company with the “91-71—“numbers.
Tony and Ruby Schmaltz hosted many socials and community meetings in the Midway Store. This park is located near the old Midway Store.
